Stays that Slay: Iceland

We have two annual tours running through The Land of Ice and Fire: Iceland Northern Lights & Essential Sites and Iceland Countryside and Reykjavik Pride. The first is a winter weekend getaway while the latter is a week-long excursion in mid-August. For both, we’ve selected a handful of incredible hotels and guesthouses right beside some of the country’s strongest geysers, largest volcanos and most imposing glaciers.

Scroll down for a peek at the accommodations.

Reykjavik (Winter & Summer)
To begin and end both tours, we’ll slumber at a sleek hotel in the heart of the Icelandic capital. The hotel completely embodies the modern and clean stylings found throughout Reykjavic. The service standards are second to none and the rooftop view is the best in the city.

South Coast (Summer)
On our summer tour, we’ll spend two full days on the south coast exploring epic waterfalls and impressive glaciers. Since these will be some of the most active days of the tour, we’ll rest our weary feet at an extra comfy boutique hotel. It’s more than likely we’ll be the only guests in the hotel so expect attentive, friendly service.

South West (Winter)
For our winter tour we chose this charming haven featuring a hot tub overlooking the neighbouring river. You’ll love soaking in the steaming tub with a glass of bubbles while absorbing Iceland’s wintery vistas.

South West (Summer)
On our summer tour we trade the previous hot tub hotel for the convenience of this quaint country home. This fire-engine red guest house is right beside Iceland’s second largest volcano – Mount Hekla – as well as extremely short jaunts from iconic landscapes such as Reynisfjara (the black beaches).
