Just the Trips: Summer Excursions

Gay Travel; Gay Adventure; Machu Picchu; Gay Peru; Gay Lima; Gay CuscoThe days are short, the wind is fierce and the weather can only be described as unacceptable. In other words, it’s March here in Canada. To help get through this sluggish month, here are our five favourite summer schleps for you to fawn over.

CANADA Big Cottage Getaway

Our first tour happens in our own backyard: Muskoka, Ontario, aka The Hamptons of the North. We’ll take over an O-P-U-L-E-N-T gay-owned resort for five fabulous days. Each morning we’ll wake our chakras with resident yogi Adam Bolton, and gorge on our private chef’s beautiful brunches. We’ll have a range of activities in the afternoon to suit a variety of personalities, from canoeing and kayaking all the way to craft beer tastings. Evenings will range from quiet campfires to exciting pier parties. Did we mention hot tubs?
With Toronto tour: June 30 – July 6
Without Toronto tour: July 2 – July 6

SCOTTISH Highland Hikes

For the ambitious amongst us, join Out Adventures in Scotland’s highlands for a weeklong trekking tour. Each day we’ll spend 4 to 6 hours hiking the rolling hills and beautiful landscapes. We’ll take short-haul ferries to unique islands and explore medieval castles, Scotch, seafood and that irresistible Gaelic twang that’s in no short supply. The tour also features days in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Departure: Aug 13 – 20

Sensational SLOVENIA

Slovenia is a rising destination with plenty to offer culture buffs and adventure seekers alike. Its quaint capital drips with charm while its countryside remains largely forested and untouched. Highlights of the mid-summer tour include ‘glamping’, Ljubljana Castle, delectable dining, stops at Lake Bled and Postojna Caves and a tour of Slovenia’s wine region, Goriška Brda.
Departure: July 15 – 20

The PERUVIAN Amazon & Machu Picchu

Peru is the very definition of adventure. Our August tour hits three key areas: Lima, the Amazon and the Andes.  Indulge in the city’s renowned restaurants and rising gay scene. Riverboat through the most biodiverse region in the world and slumber in an open-walled hotel. Cap off the tour with a visit to Cusco and a train ride to UNESCO World Heritage site, Machu Picchu.
Departure: August 4 – 12

ICELAND Countryside & Reykjavik Pride

Spend the dog days delving into Iceland and participate in their world-famous pride festival. The majority of this active adventure is spent in the countryside bussing from unfathomable natural wonder to, well, unfathomable natural wonder. We’ll bathe in the blue lagoon, snorkel over tectonic plates, trek a glacier and photograph stunning waterfalls. The tour ends in Reykjavik for a ruckus weekend of wining, dining and Priding.
Departure: August 5 – 12
