Out Adventures’ founder Robert Sharp (Rob) has been guiding gays up the Himalayas, through the Sahara, around the Amazon and towards Earth’s many wonders for over a decade, all with his signature smile and glass half-full personality. His experience and passion for travel has inspired many of our best customers to return time and again to continue striking items off their respective bucket lists.

From killer Kilimanjaro to exhausting Everest, Out Adventures has been guiding gay men up the world’s most notorious treks and trails since its inception. It’s our belief that despite the sore muscles, the altitude sickness and the occasional blister or bruise, the rewards of surmounting Earth’s highest summits is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.

Below you’ll find three of our most popular upcoming hikes. If you want an example of a 12-week training program to prepare for such an industrious venture, skip over to our Preparing to Tackle Kilimanjaro post.

Chatting with Out Adventurer Dominic Gramatte

Dominic Gramatte on Mount Everest

Dominic Gramatte, or Dom as he’s known from his blog DomOnTheGo, is an LGBT adventurer with an impressive resume.

Dom began blogging in 2015 when he was granted a seven month sabbatical from work. He took advantage of the opportunity and has since touched down on six out of the seven continents, conquered Kilimanjaro, navigated Patagonia, camped in the Serengeti and swam in the amazon.

His latest adventure: Everest Base Camp. With Out Adventures’ help, Dom trekked Everest with his partner Robert Green (Rob) for Rob’s 40th birthday this past April.

Although Dom will be posting all of his Everest content on DomOnTheGo in the coming weeks, we’re a notoriously impatient bunch in the Out Adventures’ office.  Naturally, we had to Skype Dom at his home in London, England to get a preview of his Everest adventure.

Training for Everest Base Camp

Mt. Everest Trek

OUT Adventures is hiking to the base of the world’s tallest mountain this October. That may sound overly ambitious to some, but if you’d like to join us, you’ve got plenty of time to shape up with our 12-Week Program.

Admittedly, it will feel more like boot camp than your typical holiday prep (there’s no tanning booths in the regimen). However, if you follow our tips, your little jaunt towards Mt Everest will be as leisurely as a schlep through one of the world’s most unforgiving corners can be.

Just the Tips: Kathmandu

Kathmandu

To get at the beating heart of Kathmandu, we love getting lost in Old City’s alleyways and discovering unexpected temples, secret gardens and markets. Or we’ll rickshaw over to the backpacker district of Thamel to trade stories with trekkers and climbers, many of whom are just back from conquering Everest.

Unfortunately, Kathmandu was devastated by the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Consequently, the historic sites we’d normally recommend are still being reconstructed.
